Lin's extraordinary inventiveness is perhaps best illustrated by the compositions comprising three-dimensional elements made from torn, shaped and painted paper, Piazza dei fiotti, 1988, has three such elements. Their curvilinear surfaces gave them the appearances of waves, constantly in motion, drawn by the ocean's currents. Floating light;y on their support, these patches of sea are arranged to achieve a dynamic equilibrium, the forces of attraction balancing those of repulsion."
