TIME SERIES, 1991
From Time to Time
represents Lin Hsin Hsin's 10th solo exhibition
and the 4th to be held at the National Museum Art Gallery. The exhibition of some
123 works by the artist comprises an assemblage of major works of oil on
canvas, oil on paper, papier collé and three dimensional sculptural pieces. A
prolific and serious artist, Lin Hsin Hsin combines her interests in poetry,
computer research and development, a field in which she maintains a full
time job with her practise in art.
For this particular exhibition, the artist had chosen the theme of time, with
its attendent philosophy and mystique as the focus for interpretation and
expression of her works. In the artist's own words "...the concept of the
exhibition is about my anticipation and participation of time,...... with overall
concern of time for mankind."
Each of Lin Hsin Hsin's exhibitions are carefully crafted and designed around
a selected topic such as her 1987 exhibition featuring her Abstraction In
Music series and her 1989 Aqua series. Likewise this year's exhibition on
the Time series, featuring her recent works, dating to this year. The works
express and portray her keen observation of human nature and her involvement
with aspects of sensation and perception. The poem Time penned by the
artist specially for this exhibition sets the stage for display and discussion
of the exhibition. The seven verses in the poem act as anchor for the artist's
expression of her interpretation and understanding of the subject.
